1ra Edición del Foro Industria
El cine es arte, educación y entretenimiento, pero también es una industria. En esta nueva edición, el FCEPR de la Alliance Française de Puerto Rico abre un espacio dedicado al fomento de los intercambios profesionales entre los sectores audiovisuales y cinematográficos de Puerto Rico y Europa. Mediante charlas, mesas redondas, sesiones de pitching, clases y encuentros profesionales, esta iniciativa busca ofrecer un lugar de encuentro en Puerto Rico para el networking y desarrollo de coproducciones cinematográficas entre Europa, el Caribe y las Américas.
En esta edición, el FCEPR celebra su Foro Industria durante las mañanas del jueves, 3 hasta el sábado, 5 de noviembre, con encuentros programados en la Universidad del Sagrado Corazón y en la Alliance Française de Puerto Rico en San Juan. Todas las actividades programadas en este foro son gratuitas y de acceso abierto a todos aquellos interesados.
Además, las jornadas del Foro Industria se complementarán con dos encuentros temáticos, en las mañanas del lunes 7 y martes 8 de noviembre en la sede de la Alliance Française en Santurce. En estas charlas y mesas redondas profundizaremos, junto a varios profesionales, sobre temas centrales de esta edición del Festival, como son la sostenibilidad medioambiental, la agricultura, la diversidad y la inclusividad tanto en el sector cinematográfico de hoy, como en el arte en general.
1st Edition of the Industry Forum
Cinema is art, education, and entertainment, but it is also an industry. In its new edition, the FCEPR of the Alliance Française de Puerto Rico opens a space dedicated to the promotion of professional exchanges between the growing audiovisual and film sectors of Puerto Rico and Europe. Through a series of talks, round tables, pitching sessions, masterclasses and professional meetings, this initiative seeks to offer a new platform in Puerto Rico for professional training, networking and the development of film co-productions between Europe, the Caribbean and the Americas.
In this 2022 edition, the FCEPR will hold its Industry Forum during the mornings of Thursday, November 3 through Saturday, November 5, with meetings scheduled at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón and the Alliance Française de Puerto Rico in San Juan. The activities scheduled for this forum are free and open to all interested attendees.
In addition, the Industry Forum will be complemented by two thematic events, on the mornings of Monday, November 7 and Tuesday, November 8 at the Alliance Française in Santurce. In these talks and round tables we will explore, along with several professionals and experts, on central issues of this edition of the Festival, such as environmental sustainability, agriculture, diversity and inclusiveness both in today’s film industry and the arts in general.

Shooting our films is critical. Faced with a giant wave of foreign productions that consume the tax rebate fund and the elimination of bills that granted funds for the development of national films, we wonder how we can finance our national film projects and continue to develop and share with the world a cinema that tells our stories. We must pause to open a dialogue about the ways in which we can finance a Puerto Rican cinema.

Es fundamental continuar el diálogo sobre la importancia de representar a grupos diversos e históricamente marginados en los medios, especialmente cuando los esfuerzos predominantes de inclusión reproducen estereotipos generalizados. Más allá de trabajar para romper estos estereotipos, buscamos reconstruir la estructura excluyente que controla la industria cinematográfica en Puerto Rico. Aunque recientemente hemos visto un aumento en el acceso a puestos creativos para mujeres, afrodescendientes y personas LGBTQ+, necesitamos una conversación que combine experiencias y perspectivas, desde lo creativo hasta lo técnico, de todos estos sectores tradicionalmente marginados para lograr su transformación.
Creando un espacio de conversación para un futuro cine puertorriqueño inclusivo, esta mesa redonda consistirá de cuatro partes. Para la primera, se invitará al público general a enviar preguntas antes del día del evento. También se invitará a los expertos de la industria a enviar preguntas en el momento oportuno. La segunda parte será una votación presencial el día del evento para escoger las preguntas a discutir. La tercera etapa será la discusión y, como paso final, se trabajará una propuesta para lograr la transformación deseada.

It is essential to continue the dialogue on the importance of representing diverse and historically marginalized groups in the media, especially when the predominant efforts of inclusion reproduce widespread stereotypes. Beyond working to break down these stereotypes, we seek to rebuild the exclusive structure that controls the film industry in Puerto Rico. Although we have recently seen an increase in access to creative positions for women, Afro-descendants and LGBTQ+ people, we need a conversation that combines experiences and perspectives, from the creative to the technical, from all of these traditionally marginalized sectors to achieve their transformation.
Creating a space of conversation for a future inclusive Puerto Rican cinema, this roundtable will consist of four parts. For the first, the general public will be invited to submit questions prior to the day of the event. Industry experts will also be invited to submit questions on a timely basis. The second part will be a face-to-face vote on the day of the event to choose the questions to be discussed. The third stage will be the discussion and, as a final step, we will work on a proposal to achieve the desired transformation.
